TELLURIDE ADAPTIVE SPORTS PROGRAM (TASP) HOSTS FIRST EVER TELLURIDE MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE RACE

13k run on Telluride Ski Area to be held June 12, 2004

 

 

TELLURIDE, Colo. (May 6, 2004) -- Saturday, June 12th marks Telluride’s first ever Telluride Mountain Challenge, a 13k run hosted by the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program (TASP).  The run starts and finishes in the Mountain Village and weaves through and around the Telluride Ski Area. Entry fee is $30 in advance and $35 the day of the race. A 1k Free Fun Run for children 12 and under begins at 11:00. At noon all runners showing there bibs will be admitted free to the 2nd Annul Telluride Chili Cook-off just a few steps from the finish line. The Chili Cook-off will have wonderful food, drink and live music. There will be a charge for friends and family to the cook-off with all donations going to the Telluride Youth Soccer League. At great day to play for all!

 

“This is the first of what we hope will become an annual fundraising event for TASP,” said event organizer Ben Blouse. TASP is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of people with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities through outdoor experiences. Prizes and donations have been made by several regional businesses and sponsors for the event include The First National Bank of Telluride, Izze, Balance Bar, The Boot Doctors, and Clark's Market.  It will be a festive occasion in Mountain Village as the race coincides with the Annual Chili Cook-Off.   Mention the Telluride Mountain Challenge to ResortQuest and receive a 20% discount on lodging (contact 866-538-7779).

 

The race registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and the actual race starts at 9 a.m. If you are interested in being involved but do not want to race, TASP is seeking volunteers to help on the day of the event.  Interested participants or volunteers should call (970) 728-7537 or visit www.active.com  or our website www.telluridemountainchallenge.com to register.  We really hope you can make it!
