Participant Instructions
Transportation: There is no parking at the start (Bakers Bridge). All participants must take the buses that depart from the Durango Sports Club at 7:00 A.M. SHARP. Please do not drive to the start. There is plenty of parking at the bus departure area.
Sanitation: Portable toilets are provided at the start (Bakers Bridge). Please use them, not the bushes. We will try to have an additional portable toilet on the course. The Durango Sports Club opens at 6:00 a.m. to accommodate pre-race needs.
Aid Stations: Water stops will have Hydration Station water, PowerAde and cell phones for contact with emergency personnel. There will be 6 aid stations, one each at miles 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12. Remember to thank the Volunteers.
Traffic: The race is run on public roads and is open to two-way vehicular traffic . Run against the direction of traffic. Please do not run the tangents as the course has blind hills and corners. BE ALERT FOR TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES!
ALL RUNNERS MUST RUN AGAINST TRAFFIC AND OBEY COURSE MARSHALS AT ALL TIMES.
Be alert for hazards on the course vehicles, bicycles, potholes and debris.
The course passes through the Missionary Ridge burn area, where heavy rains may cause flooding and road closures. The race may be cancelled or delayed due to weather conditions.
Weather: Weather in very unpredictable in Colorado; please monitor the weather and dress appropriately. The Start is predicted to be approx 45o F and you will have about a 30 minute wait.
Drop Bags: Use your Browns Sport Shoe goodie bag as your Drop Bag. Mark your bag with your bib Number. Markers will be available at the bus departure area. Drop bags will be brought back from the Start to the Finish Line. Look for your bag in the runner recovery zone.
Finish Line: The finish of the race is at the Durango Sports Club. Drop Bags can be found in the runner recovery area, as well as post race snacks, PowerAde, water, etc. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Durango Sports Club, runners have complete use of the club for post race showers, soaking, swimming, etc.
Post Race Party: Our Title Sponsor, Steamworks Brewing Company, invites you to attend the post-race party around the pool at the club. Runners receive free food off the grill and free beer from the barrel. Family and friends are welcome for the just $5.00 per person. The Awards Ceremony begins at noon.
Awards: The following awards will be presented. We hope you will stick around for the ceremony to enjoy good food, great libations, and most of all the camaraderie of fellow runners. This will be many participants' first half marathon ever, so enjoy the party and stay to celebrate their achievement.
